Energy Saving Advice (Subscribe)

Energy Saving Advice and Tips on Energy Efficiency in the home is provided free when a DEA or Domestic Energy Assessor or Home Inspector carries out an energy efficiency survey at your home. Dependent on the findings in the survey and the production of the EPC report the assessor, or home inspector can offer advice on improving the EPC rating for the property. In many cases the heating system plays an important part in the rating of the property, older gas fired heating appliances and boilers are generally less efficient than modern equivalents.

In addition, insulation materials in the loft and walls of the property contribute to the energy rating, the better insulated your home is, the better rating will be achieved. Modern building standards means that homes are better insulated than older property, as building regulations have improved over the years.

One of the best ways to improve the overall Energy Performance Rating for homes is to install a condensing combi gas boiler. This can have a significant effect on the overall EPC rating. Also renewable energy sources can improve the ratings (SAP Rating) achieved. Double glazing also helps together with Energy Saving Lights in all fixed outlets. These are just a few measures that can reduce energy bills and reduce CO2 emissions and hence your carbon footprint. In some cases energy saving grants are available to homeowners and landlords from your local council or energy provider.
