Training in Energy Assessment of Buildings is divided into several categories:
Domestic Energy Assessors - are required to train and pass an examination in the energy assessment of domestic property using RdSAP methodology to produce an EPC. The Diloma after study, practical and final exam will provide the applicant with an NVQ Level 3 Vocational Qualification.
Commercial Energy Assessors - are required to train and pass an examination in the energy assessment of commercial property using SBEM methodology to produce an EPC. The Diloma after study, practical and final exam will provide the applicant with an NVQ Level 3 Vocational Qualification. For more complex buildings an NVQ Level 4 & 5 Vocational Qualification is available.
Public Buildings Energy Assessors - are required to train and pass an examination in the energy assessment of public buildings using OC methodology to produce a DEC. The Diloma after study, practical and final exam will provide the applicant with an NVQ to produce DEC a (Display Energy Certificate).
Some training centres allow distance learning to be carried out prior to final in-house assessment.
